Who We Are
The United Voices for Education (UVE) is a
coalition of representatives from forty five educational stakeholder organizations that are dedicated to excellence in education
for all children.
Our Mission
To mobilize the combined resources of our member organizations to create the conditions in schools that are conducive to the healthy growth and development of children and youth.
Our Goals
To affect policy change so that the educational paradigm of America and beyond becomes one of teaching the whole child, rather than one of excessive focus on the academic side of education. Policy change will be pursued through discussions and communication with policy makers, elected officials, parents, students, the business community, funders and educators at all levels.
To broaden the focus of schools, districts, and federal and state education policymakers to include accountability for schools' addressing the social and emotional development of students, and accountability for schools' creating a school climate that is safe, respectful and bully-free, and thereby conducive to learning.
To use research, examples of best practices, model programs, and policies that support the adoption of whole child education to inform the development of UVE's action agenda and serve as a clearinghouse for practitioners.
